Located on Lombok Island in Indonesia, this natural disaster zone house is designed to keep residents of Indonesia safe from constant natural disasters like earthquakes, floods and tsunamis. Due to the current housing situation being poorly designed and maintained, this house focuses on creating a safe, functional, open and comfortable living environment.

With sustainability in mind, the house was designed to capture as much of the sun's energy as possible to generate electricity and hot water. Cleverly designed roof-space insulation improves the house's energy efficiency. The colour of the roof and exterior walls is kept light to reduce the amount of heat absorbed. Most of the exterior and interior elements are locally prefabricated to reduce the environmental impact of the house without adding to the cost.

The space has been designed to accommodate a family of four, keeping the interior vibrant and modern while durable and comfortable. Recycled materials and materials with recycled contents were used in the living spaces as well as in the bathroom. There is also a generous amount of storage  which allows all items to be stored within the cabinets, creating a clean and safe environment. Natural light has been carefully considered throughout the design, with floor to ceiling windows allowing plenty of natural light into the space.

The house   incorporates  state-of-the-art technology smart home security system, smart door locks, smart lighting and surveillance cameras to keep the house secure and safe.

The overall design proposal has created the ultimate living experience for people living in natural disaster zones: space that includes high-quality facilities, a secure,  living environment, comfort, privacy and the ability for de-construction, re-use, adaptation, modification and recycling.
